Course Description

These courses are designed for learners who are looking to start a career in the IT sector.
On completion of this course, learners will be ready to take the CompTIA exams 220-1001 and 220-1002, leading to CompTIA A+ certification, which is the preferred qualifying credential for technical support and IT operational roles.

Our CompTIA A+ course opens up a multitude of new, interesting and diverse avenues in the IT sector and is ideally suited to new starters or people who are looking to change their career.

2 x 5 day course

WDR provide 2 weeks of intensive, supported learning. Each skill is broken down by our expert tutor and will provide you with a highly interactive learning experience at our Horsham training centre, supported with mock tests, eBooks (bring a memory stick!) and remote support & guidance before entry to the exam. For larger groups, WDR can arrange training at your premises, or another local venue. Please speak to our team for further booking details.

Learning Outcomes

Troubleshoot and problem solve IT infrastructure issues.

Understand a wide variety of issues ranging from networking and OS to mobile devices and security.

Have the ability to connect users to the data they need to do their jobs, regardless of the devices in use.

What you'll be doing on the course

Week One

Identifying, using and connecting hardware components and devices.

Explain types of networks and connections including TCP/IP, WIFI and SOHO.

Install and support OS, including command line and client support.

Week Two

Troubleshoot device and network issues.

Troubleshoot PC and mobile device issues, including application security support.

Identify and protect against security vulnerabilities for devices and networks.

Install and configure laptops and other mobile devices.

Understand Mac OS, Linux and mobile OS.

Follow best practices for safety, environmental impacts and communication.

Each week of learning corresponds to one of the CompTIA exams. It is recommended that sufficient time is allowed between Week 1 and Week 2 in order to accommodate the first exam.
